K.SEO · CHOOSING AN AGENCY

Choosing an agency
in Delhi.

Every agency in this city claims to be the best one, which makes the claim worthless. What follows is the checklist we'd use if we were hiring an agency — including the questions that are uncomfortable for us to answer. Where we fit is at the end, not the top.

01

Ask who actually does the work

The most common failure in Delhi agency relationships is that the person who pitched you is not the person who runs your account, and the account is quietly handled by a freelancer. Ask to meet the team that will run it. Ask how many other accounts they handle. A reasonable answer is a number, not a reassurance.

02

Check whether the accounts stay yours

Ad accounts, pixel data, the content library and the website should sit in your name from day one. Some agencies run clients through their own Business Manager, which makes leaving expensive. This is a yes-or-no question and the answer should be immediate.

03

Ignore awards, read the reporting

Ask to see an anonymised monthly report from a real client. If it leads with impressions and reach rather than cost per lead or return on spend, you've learned what they optimise for. A report you can't read is usually hiding a result you wouldn't like.

04

Where we fit

Kohinoorr is a 45-person in-house team at Netaji Subhash Place — performance, social, content, 3D, web and e-commerce under one P&L, with ₹51 Cr+ in ad spend managed across 250+ brands. We're a good fit for brands that want one accountable team rather than four vendors. We're a poor fit if you want the cheapest possible retainer, because we don't outsource to get there.

Questions people ask

What should a Delhi agency retainer cost?

Social media management typically runs ₹25,000–₹1,00,000 a month; performance marketing management ₹25,000–₹75,000 plus ad spend. Significantly below those ranges usually means freelance subcontracting.

How long before we should expect results?

Paid media gives readable signal in three to four weeks. Organic social and SEO take three to six months. Any agency promising faster on the organic side is overselling.

Should we hire in-house instead?

If you can afford a full team — strategist, media buyer, designer, editor — in-house gives you more control. Most brands under a certain scale get more output per rupee from an agency, which is the honest trade-off.
